Yates Mill started off small and has developed into quite a larger county park. This is the entrance to the large building that houses exhibits about the old mill and other functional rooms as well as the covered terrace where we had the wedding ceremony.
We saw this new amphitheater area on our way to the main building. What a great place for a wedding on a pretty day!
In the distance you can see the old mill which is the backdrop of the covered area off the main building.
When it was time, Lisa's brother escorted her in. She is wearing the same wedding dress that Robin's mother, Betsy wore at her wedding in 1971. It was altered to fit by Lisa's mother, Ricci. Betsy told me that it originally had the puffed Juliet sleeves but Ricci removed the puffy fabric and moved the pretty lace cuff up to shorten the sleeve. Such a pretty dress with special memories infused!
Everyone was gathered on the stone terrace for the wedding. There were about 6 rocking chairs for those that chose to sit down during the ceremony. Photographing the wedding for the couple was Deb Wright who in addition to being a professional photographer works as a nurse. Thanks, Deb!
"Welcome everyone! A wedding is such a wonderful occasion filled with hopes, dreams, and excitement!"
I don't know the names of all the guests but the lady on the right is Betsy, Robin's mother. This time she gets to admire the dress on her new daughter-in-law. Her husband, Robin's father Ron, was the best man.Sitting in the last rocking chair on the left is Lisa's mother, Ricci. Not only did she alter the wedding dress, she made the wedding cake! We did not get to see it because it was at the Angus Barn where everyone was going to celebrate after the wedding ceremony.
After the vows, they exchanged rings.
Robin and Lisa, thank you for calling on me to officiate for you. It was my honor. Although I did not get to know you very well, I have a feeling you are really meant for each other and will be very happy! Congratulations!
