coocoo for coco

coco rocha by chris nicholls for FLARE april 2010. [via fashiongonerogue

i just watched r.j. cutler's the september issue for the third time and i am still in awe of how brilliant grace coddington is. in the words of anna wintour, she is truly a genius. this spread of coco rocha for flare just reminded me of grace's editorial on block coloring for vogue's september 07 issue. i wish my mom kept that phonebook of a magazine. a collector's item, for sure.

caseofthemondays.

i decided to do something with my day and did an impromptu/amateur photo shoot with mademoiselle linh (of sarapluslinh) to post on our blogs (a pic of me below and linh's to come..) i'm thinking if all these other fabulous girls can do what they love - wear beautiful clothes, write about beautiful clothes, and take pictures of beautiful clothes - then i sure as hell can do it too! so here i am, very impressed with my mad terry richardson skillz (minus the creeper modelizer thing he has goin on) and i really believe this is something i can get better at and hopefully gain more recognition with. i may be ranting, but as a very seasoned intern for pr and journalism, i feel motivated to do something with what i'm good at - writing, trend spotting, and loving fashion.

my love once told me to do what i love, and i will love what i do. so here it is. <3

Trash the Dress

A wedding photographer from Brazil started following me on Twitter.
I clicked on his links, and found some awesome wedding photography there, but what piqued my interest was his 'trash the dress' series. Have any of you heard of this practice?

Just curious if I am so much out of the loop, or is this a new trend? The photos are really awesome, but there is no doubt that by the end of a shoot like this, your wedding dress would be trash. Do these brides have two dresses, or do they do this shoot after the actual wedding reception?

Since I can't read Portuguese, I can't see if there is any information on his website or blog.

(here is a link to his website, in case you are curious, too after reading this blogpost -- http://www.jaredwindmuller.com/ )

Fair wedding blog readers, any thoughts?

Curious, I remain,

Juli

FURocious

mko is probably my numero uno style inspiration and it's so obvious why. just look at her fur. this girl can pull anything off - from bulky coats to lacey vintage gowns to brownish grey lipstick to balenciaga mega booties. effortless as always & i like it that way.

parlez vous francais?

vanessa paradis (aka mrs. depp) has been the first and only face for Chanel's coco parfum since '92. then lent her lips for the new line of lusciously puckerlicious lipsticks, rouge coco. and now after lily allen was bumped from being coco cocoon's  girl, vanessa was the obvious choice to be her replacement.

if you watch the commercial for rouge coco, notice the throwback she gives to her coco parfum commercial when she whistles during the song. so subtle, but very sweet.

i also threw in the interview she did after the Chanel fall/winter '10 show because i love the sound of french. there's a certain je ne sais quoi about it, and of course it reminds me of my trips to PARIS <3 one day, i shall learn the language. until then, english subtitles will do just fine.

brass knuckles

such a lover of accessories (nowadays, the bigger the bulkier the heavier the better) i instantly fell in love with this brass knuckle ring designed by the late great mr. alexander mcqueen. in my treasure chest(s) of accessories, i've collected quite a few two-finger rings. the latest..and my most favorite is my custom made gold name ring i ordered for myself and the little sis for christmas last year. this mcqueen would be a fabulous addition to my collection don't you think?

Types of Wedding Dresses

Tip- Your wedding gown can be from any era and it can still be fashionable and stylish. Most of wedding gowns type are 50’s inspired and therefore anyone shouldn’t tell you that the dress you are wearing is old fashion!

Note: Dresses from Impression Couture, Sottero and Midgley, Maggie Sottero, Lazaro, Demetrios, Monique Lhuiller, Sincerity bridal and Simone Cavalli.

There are famous six types of wedding gowns

1. A-Line- A Line silhouette is a gown for almost any shape and sizes, it is flattering to many figures as it skims curves for those with big curves, and it elongates the petite by adding an illusion length and it also add fullness to taller brides.

2. Ball Gown- it is a classic wedding dress of all time. I can say it is the most traditional wedding gown. A ball gown is also know as a pick up, they say when you wear this gown you can’t remove it by yourself. It is fabulous for those who like to shape their waist add volume to their shape. It is a perfect choice for fairytale wedding.

3. Sheath- It a sexy slinky figure hugging dress which flow direct from your shoulders by following your body. If you have the so called ‘nyama uzembe’ sheath style is not suitable for you. It is chic and most preferred for beach weddings or outdoor weddings. This figure hugging silhouette is hot and it will be hot for many couple of seasons.

4. Mermaid- mhmm if you have a figure like Beyonce why not show it. A Mermaid silhouette is the style for you. It is a fit and flare type of dress. It fitted well on top and dramatically flare from the hips down. Mermaid wedding dresses are strictly advised for very confident bride. It can be good on tall and slender to a medium size bride. If you are a petite or broad shoulder lady avoid this style.

5. Tea-Length- It is a contemporary wedding dress style which end 2cms below your knee. It can be perfect for a second wedding, very causal and it perfect for informal wedding like bomani or ubalozini. You will look just fabulous if you have nice pair of legs with classic pair of shoes.

6. Empire/Grecian/Princess wedding dress- If you like to rule this is the dress for you. It is for Goddess and the Queens and Kings decedents. It is high waited and smoothing down to your body with slimmer skirt. It gently blends the waist and provides a long and lean silhouette. It is good for petite brides and slim slender brides.

Choose your dress according to your body type and look fab! in your dream day!

Just another saturday night post...

Can you believe I'm heading off to study chemistry soon enough? Puah! Saturday night's are overrated, and my head hurts so bad all I want to do is lay down in the dark and listen to Janis Joplin and La Roux.
By the way I am SO in love with this look from Zoe Saldana (even though it's from a while ago). Doesn't she dress so very nicely?
This BEAUTIFUL dress is RM by Roland Mouret.

Sorry for the boring boring short short post.
I'll be posting some more soon enough.
Enjoy your evening, or day, depending where you are.
