More Wedding Details
These are some more photos of the Clickstein/Palm wedding from 10 days ago. They chose to have a bagpiper 'pipe' their guests in the front door -- a touch that was enjoyed by many guests and passers-by as well.
The flowers were lovely, and I thought you might like to see those too. The arrangements were created by a friend of the family.

A Daytime Wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel
Last Saturday Amy and Mark Bucelewicz had their wedding reception in the Hawthorne Hotel Ballroom. They chose to have a daytime wedding, and the elements of sunny lemon-yellow flowers, gold ballroom chairs, and a classic tiered and elevated wedding cake all came together beautifully to compliment the sunshiny-day!
Aren't they a lovely couple?
We hope that we have the opportunity to help you celebrate one of the most special occasions in your life, right here at the Hawthorne Hotel. Let one of our talented and experienced wedding consultants help you plan your special day! 978-825-4358.

First Dance Video
A wedding couple whose event was profiled here on our blog not long ago submitted the link to the video of their first dance. Be sure to watch it at least half of the way through, even though it is a bit long. Things really heat up at the end -- it is a fun video to watch!

From a recent email we received:
Soooo.... We had a really good time with our first dance - Hopefully, you will enjoy watching it just as much!!

Hi Lindsay,
Haven't talked to you since our wedding, but I wanted to check in about a
few things.
First: the wedding was amazing! We were so happy with the way everything
turned out and we are still getting comments like "that was the best wedding
I've ever been to" from our friends and family. Most importantly, Nate and
I had a blast.
Everyone raved about the staff and the food. Everything was delicious, but
the sea bass was especially amazing. The room also looked so gorgeous. I'll be sure to send you some photos when I get the back from the photographer.
Second: My mother in law would like a copy of the bar invoice but I left it
in Massachusetts. (Nate and I are back in CT now.) Could you email her a
copy?
Thanks again for everything! I cannot tell you enough how happy we
all were with absolutely EVERY detail.
My parents have been pestering me to thank you and I finally got around to
it. Please pass my thanks on to Natalia as well. My mom said, and I quote,
"Lindsay and Natalia were EXCELLENT! You are so lucky you had such wonderful professionals running your wedding."
Best, Lauren

A Beautiful Ballroom Wedding
Promises
Not much to say in these days, primarily because there's not much to do, except read. And when things are like this, Facebook has the annoying tendency of being a better outlet for foolish updates.
No matter, we shall change that. Make this blog a worthwhile occupant of its internet space. Yessire you can count on me.
So, where do we start? I dunno. I'll post some cool stories when I have some cool stories to post about. But for now, I think I'll go to the library.
P.S. Read Orwell, he's amazing. And listen to Rachmaninov. And Chopin. And have fun while you can.
Ciao.

Gift Cards and a Gift from Dad
When Howie Clickstein, the father of the bride, learned that his daughter was looking on the Internet for a gift card basket or box, and when he saw what was available, he decided to offer his services. He said "I can build one" and he did, and here are some photos of his handiwork.
Howie put about 40 hours of time into this labor of love for his daughter. The card that was placed on top explains his sentiment.
Howie is a builder who got involved making some custom furniture pieces for some of his clients several years ago, so he was well-equipped to make something like this. It is certainly a special piece, one that can hold mementos of this special day for years to come.
Not only is this a practical and beautiful item, but it is also a very personal gift that will always be a touchstone between father and daughter. Those are the kinds of stories that really make me smile.
The special box, with Howie Clickstein, builder and father of the bride.
I hope you enjoy learning a little bit more of the 'rest of the story' of a wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel.

The Personal Touch at Our Wedding Tasting
In the photo above, you see Michael O'Riordan and Kathryn Murphy who will be married this fall, and are planning to have their wedding reception here at the Hawthorne Hotel. They were speaking to our Executive Chef, Steve Nelson, and during the course of the conversation they asked him some questions about his chef's hat.
In this photo you see Kathryn and our Director of Catering, Karen Cotton, sharing a laugh. In the foreground of the photo you may notice a chef's hat, which was a gift from the Chef to Kathyrn, as a memento of her evening with us at the wedding tasting.
Both Chef Steve and Karen were delighted to be able to make the evening special for Kathyrn and Michael, and their parents who were also in attendance. The wedding tasting events that we do enable our couples to enjoy a multitude of selections of foods, so that when they have their detail appointments with our catering staff, they will be able to really know just how tasty and delicious our food will be for their wedding.
I hope we can help you plan your perfect wedding here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

In addition to tasting food and wine, our wedding couples are able to see many other aspects of their choices that they may make for their wedding reception.
I hope we have an opportunity to help you with your wedding.

Here are photos of all of the flowers that were there on view. A lucky person at each table was awarded their arrangement at the end of the evening.

I guess it's officially official....
So it has been for the past month.
Yeah, you guessed it.
I'll miss Ozie, I'll miss Esty, I'll miss Esty's boys. I'll miss being a foreigner, speaking a different language, having to do with a different culture. I'll miss the city, large, modern, full of life. I'll miss Ozie's and mine weekly trips to it on our freeday, and coming back more exhausted than when we left. I'll miss L'Eliana, Mercadona, Open Core, and the Emo Square. I'll miss training. I'll even miss the two kilometers from the metro stop to our house. I swear. I'll miss the spanish food. I'll miss Eman and all the retarded names we gave each other for all the sports we'd challenge each other to (Jean Claude, Buga Buga...)
Bah...to heck with it all....I'll miss Spain.
