Armani Fashion Sketches

I just love looking through famous designers' original fashion sketches, trying to divine their inspirations, interpret the colors...
These designs are all by Giorgio Armani for Lady Gaga.
Fantastic.

Jasmine Di Milo

As we all know, Jasmine Di Milo has recently closed down her fashion line, prefering to focus on interests outside of fashion. I understand her, but I can't say I'm happy about it.
Jasmine gave us some beautiful collections, her pieces appealed to many different women. In my opinion, this because she offered quirkiness, but never forgo the glamor.
Jasmine Di Milo didn't get half the coverage I would have like her to, and I'll sorely miss her.

The latest to jump on the bob bandwagon

Scarlett Johansson: My opinion on her new 'do is very fickle, and depends highly on the picture in question. Sometimes I love it, other times I hate it. But at the same time, I'm inclined to think her longer tresses were better suited to her looks and style.

Cate Blanchett: she will always be stunning, no matter what. This hair suits her, but I still miss her longer locks.

Keira Knightley: the actress has only recently re-embraced the bob hairstyle, which she has worn so well in the past. Keira has the face and the attitude to pull off any hairdo, but I couldn't be more glad with her decision, as I am head-over-heels in love with it.

Style Crush: Margherita Missoni

Margherita has everything, celebrity status, a famous family, beauty, and an impeccable style. No other celebrity ambassador could do her family's brand justice the way she does.
There's a lot more I could say regarding her, but it would be unnessecary, as she speaks so well for herself.

Gorgeous.

Style Inspiration: Ao Dai

Every once in a while I get a huge amout of inspiration from a precise piece of clothing or object, as opposed to a whole category. This time it's the Ao Dai. I've always been attracted to traditional south-east Asian clothing, but recently I've been favoring the Vietnamese costume, consisting of a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over pantaloons.
It's absolutely stunning on its own, but added to that it gives the wearer such grace and poise things just get better.
The Ao Dai comes in all colors, ranging from a simple, pure white for every-day occasions, to multi-colored, embellished ones for weddings and traditional holidays.
My favorite part of all this is that each Ao Dai is tailored specifically for the wearer, garanteeing a perfect fit each time.

Autumn Trend: Maxiskirts

Salvatore Ferragamo

Dries Van Noten

Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti

Aquascutum

Michael Kors

So, the long skirts are back, I'm excited about that. Because I honestly can't remember when they were considered fashionable and not fashion crime. Footwear with these skirts will be worlds apart as well.
I'm uber curious to see how this trend will work off the runway, but I'm keeping my hopes high.
My favorites? The Philosophy and Van Noten.

What I've been up to.

Hey guys, I know I haven't blogged much this past week, so I just thought I'd share some things that have kept me away from here.
First off, I've finnished exams! For now at least. They went great and I'm so incredibly relieved that's over with (for now)
I've been reading lots and lots, my head spins sometimes when I can't keep up with all the plots from the different books (hah). I'm finishing The Millenium Trilogy and might I say that I love it. I was also enthusiastic about the Swedish movie based on the first book.

Lisbeth Salander is by all means my heroine.

I've taken advantge of my free time to catch up on movies and TV shows a lot. My sisters and I love watching The A-Team and Criminal Minds together, while I've also been watching a lot of old movies like Nosferatu, The Innocents, and the FIRST movie ever made, Frankenstien (1910). What I love about old movies is the enthusiasm the people making them had. They were the pioneers of a new and incredible art form, and are just electrifiying.

We've been to two especially beautiful fairs here in the north of Italy, fist the Mostra Mercato Di Bienno, a small mountain town which organizes a fair each year where craftsmen can showcase their work. It happens all through the town, but most of the expos are in small cave-sort of tunnels that dot Bienno.

The other fair is called Festa di Santa Croce and takes place in Montisola, a tinsy winsy island in the Lake of Iseo. From the 14th to the 19th of September, the island is decorated with paper machè flowers, and I'll tell you, it's lovely. Unfortunately, it only takes place once every five years...

Can you believe all those flowers are fake? Wow. I hear it takes a year and a half to get this together, no wonder it's only once every five years.

So, that's been a little part of my life these months I wanted to share with you guys. Thanks for following this blog. Till next post.
Ciao ciao.

Oh by the way, we had homemade sushi for lunch today, you see I have the luck of having a Japanese sister-in-law. Delicious.

P.S. I've finally gotten around to creating a facebook page for my site, so be sure to click the "Like" button! thanks!

Style Crush: Zoe Saldana

Honestly, what's not to love about this girl? She's a talented actress, a gorgeous woman, and a fashion queen. I'm always looking out for her at different events, beacuse I know that no matter the tenor of the event she's attending, Zoe Saldana will always be picture perfect.
Trying to show every look I like would be too much for just one post, so I'll do my best to illustrate the showstoppers.

At the London Premeire of Avart she was a total knockout in RM by Rolan Muoret. The dress is so decliously structured and incredibly perfect I think I'll run out of superlatives in this post. Everything in this look, hair, makeup, jewely, and frock work together to give us one of her best looks. And they've all been good.

This is THE showstopper of the year. I have LOVED this Givenchy work of art since I saw it. Zoe is of course the perfect candidate to do justice to Riccardo Tisci and his brilliance.

Her she is at the Met Costume Gala in Calvin Klein...wow. This gown is so understated but so intricate at the same time. The color compliments her skin tone to perfection, and the stones embeded throughout the gown offer the needed piazz. I love the simplicity of her hair and the single gold cuff.

Zoe shows how the LBD is meant to be worn in this Vionnet masterpiece. With style, grace, and a touch of quirkiness. I love the total black nature of this look which so offsets the pop of red on her lips. Also, I ADORE the soft braided updo.

In other words, Zoe Saldana, you are one of my fashion royalties, I don't know how you do it, but you do it. And that's all that counts. Please never stop.

Give Me Some Valentino Couture

Ever since Maria Grazia Churi and Pier Paolo Piccoli took over leading the Valentino fashion house, I've fallen back in love. (Alessandra Facchinetti's occasional ray of light in her two, three collections was simply NOT good enough for such a name.)
Each collection remains faithful to the master himself, and yet delivers fresh, new, and young interpretations. This is what I call carrying the torch onwards.

My favorite part of this collection? It simply screams "Couture For The Young"
